What iPhone 13 Should I Get

I have a confession. And I hope you find a place in your heart to forgive me. I’d be glad if you’d let me explain; on the promise that this stays between us;

My hands still tremble each time I get a grasp of it and it makes me scared – that ‘excitement kind-of fear.’

I can’t pinpoint what exactly my excitement is but I know It’s something connected to how it’s been perfectly crafted into a unique whole piece.

Maybe it’s just me who finds it a little overwhelming when a new device or gadget is being launched.

More like, my whole thoughts are always on checking out what new stuff has been added or what upgrade has been made that distinguishes it from its predecessors. Do you feel the same way, too? You could let me know, perhaps, it’s not a problem, after all?

I know the picture isn’t clear enough but this is what it means – I still feel quite overwhelmed since Apple launched the iPhone 13 series.

Quite strange for a tech-savvy like me? Well, seems so. There has to be something about the iPhone 13 that gets me in this gadget feeling – I could almost say that it’s so surreal!

The summary of my confession is: I haven’t gotten over my excitement of the iPhone 13 and I’m taking a wide guess that you also (in a way) share in my sentiment.

You probably might have been thinking of which iPhone 13 will suit you better, and without having in-depth knowledge on the criteria or features to look out for, my reason for writing this article to you.

And just in case you’re yet to purchase any of the iPhone 13 series, here’s an opportunity for you to make the right purchase choice because this is what this article is solely about.

Sometimes, we can be a bit indecisive when it comes to making gadget decisions, especially Apple products which have similar products like their iPhone series.

This article will help influence your decision and also help you decide which particular iPhone 13 is best for you just by knowing the features.

With this in mind, I’d love you to come along with me as I take you on this journey. Don’t forget to get a mouthful of snacks and juice. And till the point, you see the word ‘cheers’, don’t stop reading.

Below are the features (paying special attention to the camera and color) you should look out for before making that final decision on which iPhone 13 model to purchase;

1iPhone 13 Design

Design

The iPhone 13 is bigger and heavier than its predecessor from last year’s line-up, but with a smaller notch on all four models. Ever since 2017 and just as seen in the iPhone X, Apple has introduced a notched display on every iPhone as a location for the selfie camera. The notch on the iPhone 13 is 20% less than on the iPhone 12.

For the iPhone 13 Mini, the camera arrangement was redesigned. Instead of being stacked one on top of the other like on the iPhone 12 Mini, the camera lenses are now placed diagonally across each other.

Size

The screen sizes of the iPhone 13 line-up vary from 5.4 inches to 6.7 inches. The iPhone 14 mini has a size of 5.4-inches while the iPhone 13 standard is 6.1-inches. For the Pro model, the iPhone 13 Pro has a size of 6.1-inches (same as that of the iPhone 13 standard) while the Pro max has a large size of 6.7-inches.

iPhone 13 Display

Display

Both the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max have a 120Hz display. The number of hertz assigned to a phone screen relates to the number of frames per second it can display, which impacts how fast and smooth the screen seems when scrolling through apps and online pages. The 120Hz display is not available on the standard or Mini versions.

Apple appears to be late to the party, as other high-end smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 and the OnePlus 9 Pro, already include a 120Hz refresh rate.

Camera

There are a few new camera capabilities in the iPhone 13 series, including cinematic mode and macro photography.

However, the lidar scanner is only available on the Pro and Pro Max, comparable to the iPhone 12 series. The lidar scanner is only available on the higher-end versions of the second generation of iPhones.

Both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max feature the scanner, which first appeared in the 2020 iPad Pro. The scanner is used to assist with autofocus and low-light photography. You can also use lidar to measure heights.

With 12-megapixel wide and ultrawide lenses, Apple’s iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini cameras have been enhanced. With 12-megapixel wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max include three new rear cameras. For the first time, night mode photography is available on all iPhones in Apple’s 2021 line-up.

Apple also announced that later this year, the Pro models will receive an upgraded version of the ProRes video.

iPhone 13 Series Camera

Color

The iPhone 13 models are available in various colors. While the iPhone 13 pro and pro max come in sierra blue, graphite and silver, and gold colors, the iPhone 13 mini and standard comes in product red, starlight, midnight blue, and pink.

Storage

Apple’s latest iPhone does not have a 64GB storage option. The basic iPhone 13 and Mini now have storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, while the Pro and Pro Max have a 1TB storage option. This is the first iPhone with the option of getting 1TB of storage.

Battery

The new iPhones, according to Apple, will have a longer battery life than the iPhone 12 series. According to Apple, the longer battery life is due to a combination of a larger battery, iOS 15, and the A15 Bionic chip.

It claims that the iPhone 13 and iPhone Mini can play video for 17 and 19 hours, respectively. The iPhone 13 Pro is believed to have a battery life of 22 hours, and the iPhone Pro Max is said to have a battery life of 28 hours.

Apple doesn’t share the battery specifications for its iPhones, but a breakdown from a tech article online reveals much larger cells than in last year’s models. The iPhone 13 Pro, in particular, has a lower battery than the iPhone 13, presumably due to the Pro’s screen using less energy.

Price

The iPhone 13 line-up’s pricing closely resembles that of the iPhone 12. Although Apple has discontinued the 64GB storage option for its normal and Mini models, the iPhone 13’s cost has remained unchanged. The price of the iPhone 13 Mini with 128GB of storage starts at $699. The basic iPhone 13 costs $799, while the Pro costs $999 and the Pro Max costs $1,099.

The Pro variants are priced similarly to other high-end smartphone models such as the Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra, which retail at $1,000 and $1,200, each.

So, there you have it. Hope this article helps you make the right decision.
