The sides are very clear however I have been using another case which has a hard, clear plastic back panel which I think is better than the slightly dotted version of this case as it takes away some of the effect of the phone colouring. It is also a bit more flexible than my old case so it can easily be pushed on and off the phone. However, this does mean that a little bit of dust can creep in but unless you are really bothered by that (like me) I suppose it won’t matter
