WHAT IS FAST CHARGING?
Fast charging refers to any charging speed over the industry-standard of 5W. There are multiple fast charging standards out there, all with their own speeds and technologies, but the most common are USB-C Power Delivery (PD) and Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC).
HOW DOES FAST CHARGING KICK THINGS UP A NOTCH?
Modern chargers charge in two phases; first at full speed, then at a reduced rate (trickle charging) to protect the battery. Fast charging bumps up the speed of the first phase by several orders of magnitude, while also lowering the voltage once the battery is mostly charged to keep you and your device safe.
