Apple Event Sept 2021: iPhone 13, Apple Watch 7, iPad mini 6 and more

The much-awaited time of the year is here again and bet you can’t wait to get to know about all that Apple has in store for all their users.

September happens to be the most anticipated month of the year for Apple users and this is fast becoming a tradition – a rite to observe.

So, after watching Apple’s California virtual event which was broadcasted from Apple Park, all I can say now is that: I can’t wait for the iPhone 13 pre-order!

Not everyone had the luxury of time to stream the live video which was about two hours After all I had watched, I penned down lots of things to share with you.

This is an encompassing and fully packed article exclusively written for your perusal and you know how we roll already – bring along your boxes of pizzas as we coast off! Not to worry, drinks on me, that’s how excited I am.

The first product I would love to mention, which is the big deal and much-anticipated product of the day is the iPhone 13.

Everything you need to know about the iPhone 13 has been categorized under different sub-headings as seen below;

iPhone 13

iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 model is set to be up for pre-order from Friday, 17th of September, 2021, and shipment will be one week from the date of order which will be Friday, 24th September, 2021.

Size

Just as seen in its predecessor (iPhone 12), the iPhone 13 is seen to have four models – iPhone 13 mini (5.4-inch), iPhone 13 standard 6.1-inch), iPhone 13 Pro (6.1-inch), and iPhone 13 pro max (6.7-inch). Pretty much the same size as its predecessor.

Display

In terms of display, the iPhone 13 features a smaller notch as a result of Apple relocating the earpiece speaker. Also, a huge upgrade was made to the face ID sensor which would work well with masks and foggy glasses, pretty fits well with the new norm of masking up.

However, the iPhone 13 Pro models come with additional features like the 120Hz throttle refresh rate and the ‘always on’ screen light display option.  When low power mode is enabled it will run at 1Hz unless you get a notification.

Albeit, none of the iPhone 13 models is seen to support touch ID and what this simply means is that there is no touch ID across all 4 models.

Processor

It has been revealed that all the iPhone 13 models will run on an A15 bionic chip which is built on the ARMv9 technology for a super-fast and smooth operation. Also, they have a water resistance of IP68.

Connectivity

All models will have Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.6 and also the QUALCOMM’s Snapdragon X60 modem with a whole lot of improvements made to the 5G connectivity.

Camera

The camera is one of the most sorts after features of the iPhone models hence Apple did well to include new features here especially in the pro models. The camera of the iPhone 13 models can use cinematic video scenes to give your video a blurry background while making a video shoot and this was achievable using the 2nd generation LIDAR scanner.

However, a change is seen in the use of the portrait filter as it is been modified – filter only affects the main picture and not the background.

For the pro model, an improved ultra-wide lens and sensor-shift image stabilization, and auto-focus are seen. Also, improvements were made to the night mode as it can recognize when stars are in the scene, and in turn, it internally adjusts itself accordingly. This means that all sensors across the board now receive about 15% extra light while the ultra-wide sees the biggest change with about 40% extra light.

Accessory Case Cover

The iPhone 13 case cover has a camera bump that is quite thicker and bigger than that of the iPhone 12 Promax which means it has a bigger battery.

Charging capacity

All the iPhone 13 models will support 25w fast charging and have large wireless charging coils to support heat better. Also, they come with a stronger magnet for MagSafe charging and battery lasting up to 17 hrs for the iPhone 13 mini, 19 hrs for iPhone 13 standard, 22 hrs for iPhone 13 Pro and 28 hrs for iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Colour

The iPhone 13 mini and standard model comes in Red, Starlight, Midnight, Blue and Pink colours while the Pro models will be available in Graphite, Gold, Silver. Sierra Blue colours.

Price

iPhone 13 ($699), iPhone 13 ($799), iPhone 13 Pro ($999), iPhone 13 Pro Max ($1,099)

That said, let’s move on to the second product that was unveiled – the Apple Watch 7 series.

Apple Watch 7

Apple Watch 7

The Apple Watch 7 comes in a new squarish design having a completely flat glass due to its ceramic display making it slightly thick overall which is quite unnoticeable to users.

Compared to the previous sizes of 40mm and 44mm of the Apple Watch 6 and Apple watch SE, the Apple Watch 7 comes in two larger sizes of 41mm and 45mm respectively. this means the Apple Watch 7 will have a thinner display bezel compared to the former. Apple Watch comes with a new S7 processor which is double-sided.

In terms of display, the Apple Watch 7 will have a better display due to the new lamination technique that brings the display closer to the front cover.

It runs on a new 5.7 chip processor that ensures a swift performance and supports a Wi-Fi 6/6E and also a Bluetooth of 5.2 and it has a larger battery than previous Apple Watch models.

Although, there are no additional health features or touch ID, however, a new colour (green) option is noticed as the message notification.

The speaker has no new grille layout and there are no changes made to the sensors on the bottom of the watch. Albeit, in terms of RAM storage, there is one awesome feature to cheer for – the additional 1GB RAM.

It comes in two distinct colours; the space grey case with sport loop and the silver aluminium case with solo loop. There is no change in price, it would still sell at the same $399.

iPad 10.2 (2021)

The new iPad 10.2 was one of the products unveiled at the Apple event. It is the latest generation of Apple’s entry-level tablet just after its predecessor, iPad 10.2 (2020) released last year. Although, it is quite similar to the iPad 10.2 (2020), there are some changes that make it unique and entirely different from the iPad 10.2 (2020).

The iPad (2021) features a 10.2-inch 1620 × 2160 LCD screen, which is one of the similarities it shares with its predecessor. Also, it has a max brightness of 500 nits which is less of an expectation but not bad either. However, compensation was made by incorporating Apple’s TrueTone tech, which adjusts the images on the screen depending on the ambient lighting.

However, the iPad (2021) still retained some of the previous iPad features like the visible touch ID button on the front and the 8MP snapper for its rear camera. This device supports the 1st generation Apple pencil and it is required that you charge the pencil by plugging it into the tablet charging port.

As opposed to the 32G or 128GB available in its predecessor, the iPad 10.2 (2021) comes with a larger storage capacity of 64GB or 256GB. Notwithstanding, you can purchase space with Wi-Fi connectivity or Wi-Fi and cellular data. It comes with a 20W in-box charger and will take up to one hour to charge fully.

The iPad (2021) comes in two colours, Silver and Space Gray and it’s pretty difficult to distinguish between both colours because they look quite similar. Although the shipment date is 24th September, you can make a pre-order now. The starting price for the iPad 2021 is as follows;

Wi-Fi & 64GB – $329

LTE & 64GB – $459

Wi-Fi & 256GB – $479

LTE & 256GB – $609

iPad Mini 6

iPad Mini 6 2021

The iPad mini 6 features a larger display having a full coverage screen (8.3-inch) and a slimmer design. It supports touch ID just like you have in the iPad Air. Also, it is powered by the A15 bionic processor chip and has an improved performance alongside 5G connectivity. Its front camera has a centre stage that helps track face while making calls. It comes in four colours: Pink, Purple, Space grey and Starlight. It is available for pre-order now at a starting price of $499 and shipping in a week from now (20th September 2021).

While these three products were launched at the event, other products like the Mac mini 2021, MacBook Air 2021, and iPad 9 are some of the forthcoming product launches to expect at Apple’s second launch sometime in December.

That’s a wrap, for now, keep your fingers crossed for the next event.
